How does it work?

The simplest way is to cut & paste a banner or a link code into your website or email message. Whoever clicks that link, visits our website. If they purchase a t-shirt from us within 30 days, 10% of the sale amount is credited to you.

Another way to earn a commision is to simply tell someone about our website. With word-of-mouth (or printed) advertising, you would provide your affiliate id number or your full name to the visitor, and that person would type that information into the “Comments” or “Customer Notes” section during the checkout process when making a purchase.

Please Note: For all offline referrals, such as printed advertising or word-of-mouth referrals, it is absolutely necessary that: 1) you are a registered member of our Affiliate Program before you can be credited for any offline, printed advertising, or word-of-mouth referrals, and 2) the visitor must type your affiliate ID number or full name into the “Comments” or “Customer Notes” section during checkout. No exceptions.

How much will I get?

We will pay you 10% of the gross sale amount for every visitor you send us that makes a purchase. It doesn't matter if someone bought $15, $50, or $500 dollars worth of t-shirts... If you sent the customer to us, you will earn 10% of every sale.

What does it cost?

Our program is absolutely FREE. There is no fee for joining our Affiliate Program, and the whole sign up process only takes about 2 or 3 minutes.


Do I need my own website to join?

No. Although having your own website to use for marketing is favorable, it is neither necessary nor a requirement. Just by telling people about our website, or using your own personal affiliate link in the e-mail you send to your friends, you can promote urbanprofile.com and earn money for any sales that result from that recommendation.

1. What are the payment options for commissions?

We will send your commissions via company check or Paypal transfer within 21 days after the cleared sum of your commissions exceeds the minimum transfer amount. (Non-US affiliates are ineligible to receive payment via company check; you must have a Paypal account to receive payment.)

Or, we can issue a Gift Certificate within 21 days after the cleared sum of your commissions become available; there is no minimum transfer amount. You can use your Gift Certificate to purchase any of our T-shirts offered by Urbanprofile.com.

2. What is the minimum transfer amount?

The minimum transfer amount is $10.00 USD. It just doesn’t make sense financially or administratively to issue sums below this amount via company check, or Paypal transfer. Therefore, commissions will be paid only after they reach the minimum transfer amount. After the sum of your commissions reaches or exceeds the minimum transfer amount, we will issue a check or Paypal transfer for your commissions within 21 calendar days upon your request. (Remember, there is no minimum transfer amount associated with Gift Certificates. We will issue a Gift Certificate to you within 21 days of your request, for the amount of your commissions, regardless of the value.)

For an unspecified, but limited amount of time, the minimum transfer amount will remain only $10.00 USD. By keeping the minimum transfer amount low (for now), this will increase your payout frequency and reduce your wait time to be paid for your commissions. We intend to increase the minimum at a later date; the current minimum will remain at least throughout the remainder of 2007.

3. What does “commissions clearance” mean?

To protect credit card holders and prevent affiliate system abuse, we will withhold payment of referral fees until they are cleared. This is why we will hold your commissions for (up to) 21 days before clearing and releasing them for disbursement.

4. I'm currently your customer and I already have an account in the member’s shopping area. Do I have to sign up again for the affiliate program?

Yes. Even if you already have a username and password registered in our shopping area, you must register separately for our affiliate program, if you choose to join. (You can use the very same username and password for both areas to make things easier.)

5. Do I have to wait until my commissions reach the minimum transfer amount before I use my commissions to purchase t-shirts listed on urbanprofile.com?

No. Any positive credit (cleared commissions) can be used for purchasing our t-shirts. We will issue a Gift Certificate (only) for any amount you have earned; there is no minimum transfer amount. If the credit for your commissions is not enough to pay for the t-shirt(s) you wish to order, you can partially pay for your order with your Gift Certificate and the rest of the sum with your credit card or Paypal account.

6. Will my commissions be paid out automatically after they reach the minimum transfer amount?

No. You should login into your Affiliate account and check the balance of your account, then send us an e-mail (use the contact form in the CONTACT section of the website) and request payment. We will send your money according to your request (Company Check, Paypal transfer, or Gift Certificate) within 21 calendar days from your request.

7. How can I check if my affiliate code works correctly?

If you wish to ensure that the system properly tracks customers coming from your site (through your affiliate link), try this: Verify that you have been approved after registering (this will be done via e-mail notification), put your affiliate link code on your website, and click on it. Or, you can simply cut and paste your affiliate URL into your browser and visit our site that way. Then login into your affiliate account and check the value of your "click through" counter to see if it has increased. The value of your CTR (click through rate) counter should have increased by 1.

8. How does the affiliate system track my referrals? How can I be sure that I will receive credit for my referrals?

Our system is cookie-based. This means that if a visitor clicks over to our site (as a result of clicking your affiliate link), and then leaves our site without ordering, you will still be credited for a sale if they return to our site to purchase a t-shirt from us as much as 30 days later.

A cookie is a harmless text file that is automatically saved on the visitor’s computer; this file will have your affiliate code included within it. It has a “shelf-life” of 30 days from the time they click over to our site. Every time they return to our site, the cookie will track which of our affiliates sent them to us and credit that affiliate (you) for any t-shirts that are sold.

For all offline referrals, such as printed advertising or word-of-mouth referrals (where no affiliate links or cookies are involved), it is very important and absolutely necessary that: 1) you are a registered member of our Affiliate Program before you can be credited for any offline referrals, and 2) the visitor must type your affiliate ID number or full name into the “Comments” or “Customer Notes” section during checkout. No exceptions.

9. How often is the system updated? If someone purchases a t-shirt as a result of my referral, when will the system show my new commissions?

The system updates automatically; right after a sale is made, the system will display your commissions immediately afterwards. (This is true for online referrals only.) For offline referrals, such as word-of-mouth referrals, commissions are credited to your account manually. We will update your account as we process and package new t-shirt orders, usually within 48 to 72 hours.)
You can log into the member’s Affiliate system console at any time to track your sales and commissions. The system will show exactly how many referrals and subsequent purchases have taken place, with a detailed tally of each commission earned.

10. I click the banner on my site for testing, but click through quantity does not grow on your site.

Please check if your browser has cookies enabled. Unfortunately, there is no way for the affiliate system to track the clicks with cookies disabled. Enable cookies and try again. (Please note: The value of your CTR counter will only increase by 1. Values increase only when our system detects a new visitor with their own unique IP address. That is why repeated clicks from the same visitor will only count as 1 click through.)

11. I operate more than one website. Do I need multiple Affiliate accounts?

No. You can apply your affiliate code to as many sites as you wish. Your affiliate account can be used with all your sites. Unfortunately, there is no way to track the progress of each site separately, and all commissions are added to your single affiliate account.

12. What about product returns?

If a customer returns a t-shirt for a refund, or if credit card charges are reversed due to a dispute or credit card fraud, or if a t-shirt is purchased via money order, but the customer neglects to mail their payment, your account will be debited for any commission earned on that transaction. (Please note, we receive very, very few requests for refunds, and we have even fewer experiences with credit card fraud thanks to our up-to-date credit processing security safeguards.)

13. I’ve registered as a new affiliate and I’ve signed into the affiliate console. I didn’t see any banner ads or text ads that suited my needs. Can I have something created just for me?

Absolutely, yes! Our affiliate program is new, so we only have a limited number of banner and text ads created for your use. (We will be making new ads for our affiliates to choose from as our program grows. Please check back for new ads periodically.) In the meantime, if you want something made especially for your website, please contact us and let us know your requirements, such as pixel dimensions, suggested colors, specific message details, etc. We will do our best to accommodate your request.

14. Can I refer myself? Can I earn commission on my own purchases?

No. You cannot refer yourself as an Affiliate with Urbanprofile.com and receive a commission. Commissions generated from self-referrals are NOT allowed and are strictly prohibited. Sales generated from affiliate referrals will be monitored; any commission generated from a self referral will be revoked.
